Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, was listed to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation( CBI)
in connection with the land- for- jobs case. The process had been issued before, but Yadav had requested further time due to particular commitments. The CBI officers were doubtful if TejashwiYadav would appear or ask for further time. Earlier in the week, the CBI had questioned former Bihar Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, who were also RJD leaders, in connection with the same case. The case, filed under the Prevention of Plutocrat Laundering Act( PMLA), was grounded on allegations that people were given employment in the railroads in exchange for land parcels vended or blessed at lower rates to the Yadav family and associates. Yadav’s appearance before the CBI came a day after the Enforcement Directorate( ED) raided a property in Delhi allegedly linked to him and searched several other demesne allegedly linked to Lalu Prasad’s family.
The ED searched 24 demesne in Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Ranchi, and Phulwari Sharif, allegedly linked to Tejashwi Yadav sisters Chanda, Ragini, and Hema, former RJD MLA Abu Dojana, and parcels linked to Lalu Prasad’s family. The ED seized cash amounting to Rs 53 lakh, foreign currency including USD,900, 540 grams of gold bullion, further than 1.5 kg of gold jewellery, and several other indicting documents and electronic bias during the raids.
The property searched by the ED in New musketeers Colony, Delhi, was linked as D- 1088 and was said to be the listed address of a company called M/ s AK Infosystems Pvt Ltd( AKIPL). According to the CBI FIR in the case, AKIPL got a land parcel in exchange for a road job given to a seeker when Lalu was railroads minister. In 2014, maturity shares of the company were bought by Rabri Devi, who was appointed a director in the establishment along with Ragini and Chanda, ED officers said. Though the New musketeers Colony property was shown in the records as the listed address of AKIPL, it was being used as a domestic premise by Tejashwi Yadav, according to ED officers.
Rabri Devi and Hema Yadav independently entered two land parcels each from campaigners who got road jobs, according to the ED officers. These land parcels were allegedly vended to M/ s Meridian Constructions India Ltd, a company run by Abu Dojana, for Rs3.5 crore. The ED also searched the demesne of Amit Katyal, Navdeep Sardana, and Praveen Jain, along with services of AKIPL, M/ s Brahma City Pvt ltd, M/ s Elite Landbase Private Limited companies, namely Whiteland Corporation Pvt Ltd and Meridian Construction India Limited.
The CBI had filed a chargesheet in the case against Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, and 14 others under charges of felonious conspiracy and vittles of the Prevention of Corruption Act.All members of Tejashwi Yadav family have been summoned to appear before the court on March 15, as per the ED’s request. Rohini Acharya, a member of his family, has alleged that the agency has been subjecting their pregnant family member to torture and that the entire family is being targeted. She prompted the agency to have some shame and reminded them that there was a pregnant son- in- law in the house and sisters had small children. Acharya advised the agency that they would suffer the consequences of torturing the family unjustly. RJD’s public prophet and Rajya Sabha MP, Manoj Kumar Jha, stated in a press conference that the BJP has been extremely angry ever since RJD joined hands with JD( U) in August last time to form the government in Bihar. According to Jha, the BJP has been using officers of central agencies and offering possible post-retirement benefits to destabilise the RJD government in Bihar. Still, Jha asserts that RJD leader Lalu Prasad isn’t one to back down in the face of similar tactics.
He added that people have been mocking the BJP for using political vendettas against its opponents, and that the BJP should prepare for analogous treatment if they were to lose power. Former RJD MLA, Abu Dojana, also spoke to journalists and stated that this is purely a political matter. Tejashwi Yadav , son of Lalu Prasad and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, lately wrote to the Prime Minister along with other opposition leaders, professing the” blatant” abuse of central agencies. In response to his father’s recent questioning, Tejashwi Yadav stated that they aren’t perturbed by the case as there’s little merit in it. He added that the CBI, ED, and Income Tax will continue to visit them until 2024.
